From May thru
October we meet weekly for
driver training and to learn basic maintenance skills.
The race track is located 10 minutes North of Whistler
behind the motocross track. There are bleachers, bathrooms and concession.
Kids that are certified (practice!) may race against seasoned adult
drivers with permission from their parents.
Kids receive driver training and safety experience
that will make them better drivers. They also go through the Too
Good For Drugs program, a proven system for helping kids stand
against the pressures of growing up in our modern culture.

The kids and many adults have enjoyed hundreds of hours turning a family
station wagon (donated by Payless Towing) into the mean machine it is
today. Very soon we hope to obtain a second car to work on.
Saving
Young Lives
According to
Traffic Collision Statistics, an annual publication by the RCMP,
over 82% of all traffic accidents are caused by the 'human factor',
that is; avoidable circumstances. The largest age bracket of
fatalities is in the 16 - 25 category. In other words - new drivers.
Novice drivers just aren't as aware of other drivers as those more experienced. They are more easily distracted and their response times
are inhibited by lack of experience.
Youth are 45% more
likely to get killed in a car accident.

We believe that
kids can learn the skills that will save their lives.
Sponsorship:
Businesses are being offered high profile advertising in exchange
for sponsorship. See more on
that here.
Drug and Alcohol
Prevention
The Barely Legal Race Team is part of an overall program
to help kids remain free from drugs and alcohol. Kids
that want to live out their childhoods free from the influence of
drugs and alcohol are invited to join X-Life and become part of the
race program. Barely Legal is just one way that the community can reward
the kids who are working hard at setting a good example for their
peers.
Kids are encouraged to join as young as 13 as
members of the race team and can learn to drive but they can't start
racing with the adults until
they are 14. But even for kids that can't or don't want to drive,
they can still be part of the racing team as members of the pit
crew, working on cars or in a dozen other ways.
Costs
It’s free for kids to get involved. X-Life is
supported through generous donations by
local families, businesses and churches. While X-Life promotes
traditional Christian beliefs and values,
X-Life is non denominational
and is not affiliated with any church. Over 90% of the kids that
attend X-Life programs do not attend church, nor do their families.
