OUR BELIEFS:
AT
X-LIFE, WE THINK THAT LIFE SHOULD BE TOTALLY AWESOME, FUN,
EXCITING, FULFILLING AND FULL OF PROMISE FOR AN AMAZING FUTURE.
WE
BELIEVE IN BEING WORLD CHANGERS TOGETHER, AS WELL AS STANDING ALONE
FOR WHAT'S RIGHT!!
WE BELIEVE IN FEEDING THE
HUNGRY, TAKING CARE OF ORPHANS AND HELPING THE NEEDY IN OUR
COMMUNITY.
WE BELIEVE IN LOVING OUR NEIGHBORS... THAT MEANS SACRIFICING FOR OTHERS. WE BELIEVE
THIS IS NOT WASTED ENERGY, BUT THAT THIS IS AN EXPRESSION OF GOD'S
LOVE. IT IS THIS KIND OF LOVE AND SELF SACRIFICE THAT WILL CHANGE THE WORLD FOR THE BETTER. AND WHAT COULD MAKE YOU
FEEL BETTER ABOUT YOURSELF?
Our faith is evidenced by an
internal change in attitude and motivation which results in a
visible change in the way we live.
X-life
believes in following in the example of Christ by ‘laying your life down’ for
those around you. Commitment to this lifestyle will be evidenced by
positive habits such as honoring one’s parents, obeying the law,
exercising self control, maintaining good attitudes, standing up for
what is right, defending the innocent, showing mercy to the poor,
serving our community, resisting peer pressure and choosing friends
wisely. A healthy lifestyle such as this requires extreme commitment
and the making of many difficult decisions. That’s why we call the
group ‘X-life’. Its extreme living, with faith based
Christianity at the centre.
GOD TALK:
"God Talk" is X-Life's
version of church for kids. It's a discussion based exploration of
the Christian faith with prayer and real-life stories of
God's intervention in our everyday lives.
X-life is non denominational and is not affiliated with any
church. X-Life programs are open to all children of any faith (or no
faith). The majority of kids that come don't attend church nor do
their families. However, X-Life includes the Christian faith as part
of its program because we believe faith acts as a type of 'glue',
giving traction to our good intentions - similar to AA's 12 step
program.
We try hard to reinforce values that kids have learned in school
and at home. We have previously brought in professional speakers
from the Red Cross and the RCMP to talk about issues such as Staying
Safe on the Internet, Child Abuse and building Healthy
Relationships.

Our definition of Christianity:
God the Creator loves us. His son Jesus died on the cross to
wipe away our shame and guilt. As we surrender our lives to Him,
He heals our broken hearts and gives us hope for the future.
Christianity isn’t real if doesn’t include a practical
demonstration. The bible says “pure religion and undefiled
before God is this; to care for orphans and widows in their
affliction”. Simply going to church just doesn’t cut it. Real
faith is practical and changes the world.
Here's more:
The
Bible is the Word of God. It can be trusted and has proven itself in
countless thousands of lives who have relied upon its promises and
principles.
There
is only one God, the Creator. He is personal and knowable.
Jesus
Christ is the chosen Savior
who came to save the world. His life, death and resurrection was foretold for thousands of
years by prophets.
Jesus
Christ died on the cross for our sins, was buried in a cave, rose
again from the dead, ascended back to heaven, and will one day
return.
All
people are sinners, guilty and deserving of judgment. Since no one
is perfect, we are all in need of a Savior, Jesus Christ our Lord.
To
be saved
from sin, death and hell is God's unmerited favor, based on the
work of Jesus Christ alone. It is received by faith, apart from any
human performance. We don't get to heaven by 'being good',
rather because Jesus paid the penalty for us. He stood between us
and judgment when he died in our place. Now those that believe in
him can live forever without guilt.
Eternal
life is a gift of God and nothing can separate us from the
love of God.
Unbelievers
face eternal judgment. Believers enjoy eternal life in paradise.
How to find a new life...
God beckons all to come to
Christ. No one need be judged or live a meaningless life. God
himself provided a way out for us. No matter what you have done
or what you have experienced, He can turn things for the better.
Jesus said 'behold I make all things new'. Wow! You don't know
what your destiny is until you've come face to face with your
Creator. That is the day everything begins to change. Hopefully
that day will be today.
Say this to God: "God, I want
a brand new life. I choose to believe that Jesus died for my
sins. I give you my life now and humbly ask for forgiveness for
my sins and shortcomings. Please make me a brand new person".
If you prayed that prayer
with sincerity, watch out! God takes people at their word and
will begin to work in your life in ways you hadn't ever
imagined. It takes time to make big changes, but here's a few
things you can do to accelerate the process:
Find some other people who
believe in the bible and get to know them. Attend church or
other gatherings where people are serious about their faith.
Get a bible and read the book
of John. It explains a lot.
Get baptized in water. This
is a significant event that marks the end of the old and the
beginning of the new. Even if you were baptized as an infant, it
becomes even more meaningful once you know what you are doing
and why.
Pray. That is, talk to God
about everything. And try to listen. Often God will speak to us
and when he does it usually results in revolutionary change.
Finally, and most
importantly, listen to God and obey when he speaks to you. This
is where most people fail and why we have so many hypocrites in
the church. They want to look good on the outside, but haven't
really surrendered their lives to the Lord Jesus and don't want
God to 'control' them. They aren't concerned with the state of
their hearts, only with the way others think of them. To God,
our hearts are the most important thing. Be
honest with yourself. God doesn't expect perfection. But if He
gives you some direction make sure you take it. Some of the
biggest miracles take place after we step out in faith and obey
even though we don't understand why God would lead us in such a
way. He'd never tell you to do something wrong or hurt anyone,
but He may tell you to give some money to the poor, or to attend
a church or to call someone and confess some hidden fault and to
ask for forgiveness or to forgive someone else. Understand this;
God wants a relationship with you. That means you can expect
some interaction from Him. He's real, not just a concept or
someone you read about in the bible. He can and does intervene
in our lives as we reach out to Him. If you carry on with your
faith, in a couple years you will probably have numerous
miracles take place that are God's response to your trusting
Him. Wouldn't that be great?
